 There is no better place to begin and end your First Thursday gallery hopping than right here at The Ardea.  First of all, there’s plenty of parking and it’s free! Or, you can walk in, bike in, kayak in and streetcar in.  No more hassle driving around hunting for a spot and missing valuable moments of checking out the exhibitions and of getting your share of the hors d’oeuvres.

 Speaking of wine and hors d’oeuvres, after you park, your first sip of fine wine and a bite of delicious food awaits you in the beautiful courtyard of the Ardea under cool breezes from the river flowing just a few steps away.

 Once you’re relaxed, step on to the streetcar and head into downtown and the Pearl District, getting on and off whenever the spirit moves you.

 When you’re all done, step aboard the streetcar and return to the Ardea. Take a stroll along the river as the sunsets, the water a perfect drop back for reminiscing about the art, the food, and the city.

Football returns in anger to Stumptown this week with a packed lineup at PGE park with playoffs for the U-23s, a massively important top of the table battle with Puerto Rico for the big boys, and a highly anticipated friendly against Coca-Cola Championship Playoff winners Burnley on Saturday night.

OHSU Heart Research Center/South Waterfront Science on the Waterfront Series: The Healing Power of Exercise. Learn how exercise can benefit your health with guest speaker and head of the Health Promotions and Sports Medicine of OHSU, Linn Goldberg, M.D., F.A.C.S.M.

That’s right, it is that time of year again! 
Starting today (Thursday June 11) and running through to June 27th is the festival of Portland’s World-Renowned Bike Fun, Pedalpalooza.

The festival is put on by Shift, a informal local group of bikers united by “a shared passion for the bicycle in all its glory: as toy, as transportation, as a tool for social and environmental change!”  You can see from the calendar on the main site linked above, this is a massive event with everything from the practical (repair and legal clinics), to networking (Business on a Bike meeting 6/19 at 3:00), to the ridiculous (many polo and jousting events), to the sublime (Kidical Mass) and of course the endearingly insane (Zoobomb on Sunday nights!)

Hey Folks,
So by now you have probably seen all the cars around town with the big green “Z” on the passenger side door and wondered what this is all about?  Zipcar is a self-serve car sharing program that is running within a number of major US cities (as well as London, England.)  Basically you rent cars on an hourly basis for your round-town, short haul trips, and leave your parking/insurance/gas price woes at home.
